Ferrari
Challange
Stradale

In 1993, Ferrari Club Nederland initiated the "Ferrari Challenge" racing series and started racing Ferrari 348's.

The Ferrari factory started supplying Challenge “kits” to be installed by dealers and later delivered “real” non-road legal Challenge cars only for track use.

Following the Ferrari 348 Challenge, Ferrari produced the F355 Challenge and 360 Challenge which were also non-road legal, but interest had started showing from clients who would like to have a track car that could also be driven to and from the track – and a hardcore racer for the street. The result became the Challenge “Stradale” (road) where Ferrari basically took the factory-built 360 Challenge and revised it slightly to be able to pass inspections and make it road-legal. As an example, the valves in the exhaust system open fully at 3.550 RPM where the inspection level for road-legal noise level is 3.500 RPM, so the car is very close to its pure race sibling – and it is even fitted with the same carbon-ceramic brake system as Ferrari Enzo hypercar.

Few outsiders are able to tell the difference from the “standard” Ferrari 360 Modena, but enthusiasts know that a huge number of components are specific to the Challenge Stradale which makes it no way comparable to the standard model – which is also why the price difference is substantial. Appx. 1.288 cars were produced.

What makes this specific car special is that Ferrari offered a detachable sunroof option on the “standard” 360 Modena which was only fitted to appx. 60 cars (of over 17.000 produced), already making it very rare. The option was never offered on the Challenge Stradale, but one owner in Sicily, IT and one in Switzerland persuaded Ferrari to include it on their specifications – and this car is the one from Sicily.
